Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District

In 1989 the merchants of Downtown West Allis, the majority of which are small businesses, utilized their entrepreneurial and organizational skills as a stimulus to form the Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District. This new organization represented a diverse mix of traditional retail establishments, specialty retailers, services providers, offices and eating & drinking places. Now, almost 20 years later, we continue to strive to uphold the mission set forth when the BID was formed:

“Build a positive image that encourages Customer Growth and Community Involvement.”

Downtown West Allis will continue to offer its small town flavor. It will promote a quality image of the Milwaukee metropolitan area’s hometown downtown where new energy and traditional values meet to offer a genuine, “One of a Kind” downtown experience.

The once every ten year census will be conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau this year (2010). The official date is April 1, 2010, with the census forms being mailed to all addresses in March, 2010. We strongly urge you to complete the form when you receive it and return it to the U.S. Census Bureau. The most accurate and complete census count for the City of West Allis is extremely important in determining our future state and federal funding. There is no long form and short form this year – only one short form. Federal law requires this information to all be held completely confidential and provides penalties for anyone that violates this rule. Thank you for your cooperation in this regard.
